Spar Braeside on Thursday joined the fast foods fraternity introducing the Chikka Chicken and Pick-A-Pizza as brand names for hot meals of chicken and pizza respectively.

In an interview, general manager Spar Express, Precious Chikukwa expressed her satisfaction on the successful launch of the fast food concept.

“Passion drives us, motivation got us started and determination will keep us”, she exclaimed.

Although many would generally assume that Chikka Chicken and Pick-A- Pizza are concepts in the Spar food section, Spar Braeside has strategically positioned the new concept as an independent store that will specialise only in fast foods.

“We were motivated to open this concept because we saw that there was no competition. The nearest fast food outlet is in the CBD so we just saw an opportunity to make life easier for our customers here,’’ she said.

Chikukwa believes the sky is the limit, as this investment is propelled by innovation.

“In Zimbabwe, besides Spar South Africa, this concept is the first of its kind in Southern Africa, to have a fast food that runs independently and not as part of the main store. We look forward to opening more fast foods in our operations.”

The fast food concept will incorporate a playing ground for children who are under seven years of age. There shall be a security officer to monitor the children who will be enjoying various fun services such as a swimming pool and colourful art-chalk boards.

The General Manager showed her optimism in the concept and stated that the market was ready for them as they believe in the value for money.

“We pride ourselves in convenience, freshness, being customer friendly and our customers are the heartbeat of our business,’’ added Chikukwa.

The fast food concept comes in hand with Spar Express which is a convenient supermarket that operates for 24 hours.

“We have also introduced Spar Express whereby our customers
will have access to services 24 hours a day.

“We have tried to the best of our knowledge to shelve all convenient products that are likely to be needed by our customers at any given time mostly groceries.’’
