Seed-Co boosts CSR initiatives

HARARE – Zimbabwe’s leading seed producer Seed-Co Limited recently donated three tonnes of mealie meal to two orphanages and a leprosy centre.

Mutemwa Leprosy Catholic Care Centre, Mother of peace community Mutoko and Mashambanzou Care Trust walked away with a tonne of mealie meal each.

To complement the mealie meal donation Seed-Co also presented maize and sugar bean seed for fourteen hectares.

Speaking at the handover Seed-Co managing director Denias Zaranyika said his company was pushing for indelible projects at these institutions to inspire lives of the less privileged. Adding that it has always been his wish to assist these organizations from the days of his child hood.

“Your institutions are held dearly our hearts that is why we are always working out interventions to assist your cause, it is part of our business as Seed-Co.

“Growing up, it has always been my wish to put a hand to the cause of your organisations, I am hopeful that we will establish something that leaves a long lasting mark on Mutemwa, said Mr Zaranyika.

Seed-Co group public relations manager Marjorie Mutemererwa indicated that her firm extended the donation in recognition of efforts undertaken by these organisations to care for less privileged. The seed company promised to avail an agronomist to assist on the crop production.

“Today we honour the efforts executed by Mashambanzou care trust and Mutemwa leprosy for the care and support you provide to the recovering, physically challenged and destitute patients. Mother of peace for the orphans, abused and abandoned that you take under your wing giving them hope for a better future.

“We will assist with an agronomist to ensure that a good yield is attained,” said Mutemererwa.

In return Mutemwa Leprosy Catholic Care Centre and Mother of peace community both of Mutoko presented a certificate of appreciation to Seed-Co for the support.

“We are grateful for the support you have offered to us, for the rehabilitation of Mutemwa family to stay alive,” said father Salicio Mukuwe resident priest at Mutemwa leprosy.
