Emerging cricket players are in for a golden opportunity to showcase their talents.

The inaugural Zim Afro T10 cricket league is aiming to unearth and nurture Zimbabwe’s next generation of cricketing talent through the Emerging Player Program.

Each of the league’s five franchises – the Harare Hurricanes, Durban Qalandars, CapeTown Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves and Jorburg Buffaloes – will select one young Zimbabwean player to join their squad.

These rising stars will get the opportunity to perform on the big stage and potentially attract the attention of scouts from around the world.

The head coaches will select these emerging players at trials in Bulawayo, Kwekwe and Harare in early July.

Zimbabwe Cricket’s Managing Director, Givemore Makoni  said, “The Emerging Player Program is a great initiative for Zimbabwean cricket and I am excited to be partnering with T Ten Global Sports in this. It’s a fantastic platform for some of the best young cricketers in the country and I am confident that the players will make it very difficult for the coaches when they sit to finalise the players eventually.”

T Ten Global Sports founder Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk shared equal sentiments saying, “While we like to see the best international cricketers entertain the fans all over the world, I felt the young players must get their time in the sun.

“We want to see the best cricketers from the Zimbabwean system come out and leave a lasting impression on the senior pros and the fans, and the Emerging Player Program is designed specifically for that. I am confident we will unearth the crème de la crème in terms of talent from Zimbabwe.”

While the Zim Afro T10 promises high-octane action, at its heart lies a commitment to nurturing rising Zimbabwean players. The franchises aim to identify and support these emerging talents, giving them exposure that could propel their careers forward.

The program will see trials held in:

– BAC Sports Club, Bulawayo on 7-8 July

– Kwekwe Sports Club, Kwekwe on 9 July

– Takashinga Cricket Club, Harare on 10-11 July

The success of the Emerging Player Program will ultimately be measured by how far it propels Zimbabwe’s next generation of cricketers onto the global stage.

With the right nurturing and exposure now, these rising stars could play a big part in Zimbabwe’s cricket future.
