Last week, Health Insurance Matters articulated Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMA)’s mandate, its relationship with Premier Service Medical Investments (PSMI) and strategies being put in place to ensure access by members to healthcare services.

This week’s focus is on PSMAS products are meant for everyone with a steady income whether formally or informally employed, students or pensioners.

They are designed to suit each individual’s circumstances and health needs, thus we have products for public sector employees, private sector employees, corporates, individuals and even for those in the diaspora.

Public sector

Public sector products are targeted at government employees and their immediate family members.

Government employees can enjoy subsidies from their employer, which is automatically deducted from the pay source. Members enjoy enhanced services by paying less through healthcare providers on the PSMAS network.

This category has three main plans, that is, Standard, Optimum and Executive.

Members on the Standard Plan with chronic illnesses are encouraged to migrate to Optimum Plan for more benefits.

Private sector

Private sector plans are targeted at corporates and individual members. There are a number of products under this category, subscriptions of which are pegged in both the local currency and United States Dollars. Organisations can help protect their staff from potentially crippling medical costs by providing affordable healthcare across the employee spectrum.

Informal sector

These products are targeted at anyone with a steady income but not formally employed, that is, small to medium enterprises, farming communities, artisanal miners and so on.

Diaspora

These products are meant for people in the diaspora wanting to subscribe to medical aid for their relatives back home here in Zimbabwe.
