Airports Company of Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer, Tawanda Gusha, takes up his position in the Board of the Airports Council International next month.

Gusha was recently elected to the board of the Airports Council International (ACI) in yet another indication of Zimbabwe’s rising stock in terms of representation on global business and political organisations.

He will assume his duties at the ACI this January.

“Zimbabwe is now a board member from the African region comprising of CEOs from various airports companies on the continent. It operates through committees and our election to the board will run from January 2023 to December 2025,” said Gusha.

His election is expected to come with a number of benefits for the country’s entire aviation industry.

“There are many training programmes that are conducted by the ACI and obviously it gives us an impetus to train our staff and empower the organisation for operation efficiency and again in terms of the adoption of modern technologies in airports security and so forth. The board membership is quite phenomenal,” he added.

Gusha’s election to the ACI board caps a momentous year for Zimbabwe in terms of international relations.

ACI World collaborates with international organizations, governments, airport members, and industry stakeholders to develop policies, programs, and best practices that advance airport interests and promote excellence in the aviation industry.

They also work closely with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), the International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Economic Forum, and others to represent the voice of airports during policy development.
