The children and staff at Midlands Children’s Home received a much-needed boost this week, courtesy of a donation from Nicoz Diamond Insurance.
The local insurance company donated US$5,000 worth of books, groceries and household supplies to the non-profit home that cares for 85 disadvantaged and orphaned children.
For years, NicozDiamond has supported the home through monetary and in-kind donations of basic necessities that help ensure the children and staff can live in comfort.
“We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need,” said Noel Manika, general manager of operations, at the official handover ceremony. Caring for our community is a core part of NicozDiamond’s values.”
Midlands Children’s Home provides shelter, food, clothes and skills training to help reunite children with their families or become self-sufficient.
According to the home’s director, the donation will go a long way in improving the lives of the children in their care for many months to come. NicozDiamond Insurance has long had a passion for spreading kindness in the communities it serves. As a company that protects people during times of hardship, NicozDiamond understands the importance of helping the less fortunate.
NicozDiamond is part of the First Mutual Holdings Group which has an active corporate social responsibility programme.
In addition to local initiatives like this one, the company sponsors tertiary scholarships for disadvantaged students through the First Mutual Foundation. Currently, six students are receiving full 4-year scholarships to study at African universities.
While insurance companies exist to mitigate risk for their clients, NicozDiamond is demonstrating that giving back to the community is an important part of their mission as well.
