HARARE – Cassava Smartech’s insurance business has launched EcoSure rescue services in partnership with MARS, a local ambulance company.

This new product enables EcoSure policy holders to have timeous access to Ambulance services all over the country.

The initiative intends to build up a fluid health related response system in an environment where medical facilities have been overwhelmed.

Cassava Smartech Zimbabwe CEO Mr Eddie Chibi said the service would assist in achieving fluidity in the health system and save lives at a reasonable cost.

“We have seen lives needlessly lost due to inaccessibility of ambulance services. That’s why we have now developed the Ambulance add-on service to give access to affordable ambulance services to the majority of Zimbabweans,” said Mr Chibi.

EcoSure whose sister company is an MNO indicated that it was using the technology to solve social and economic issues that afflict societies.

“We have consistently managed to harness the power of technology to meet people’s needs, and we are proud to allow Zimbabweans across all social strata and economic sectors to access affordable insurance cover,” he added.

Acting EcoSure general manager Natalie Jabangwe highlighted that this initiative was critical considering the suddenness of health issues especially relating to women as they go through pregnancy and other critical health issues unexpectedly.

“For as little as $2 per month people can now call rescue services Mars, this is an exciting product, you know the issues that sometimes tend to happen especially with pregnancy, nature of healthcare events that tend to happen emergently. We very much have women in our thoughts we would want to make healthcare services accessible and affordable,” said Ms Jabangwe.

Among Cassava’s product portfolio is mobile money service EcoCash, which now boasts 8 million customers in Zimbabwe alone, and has been lauded for its immense contribution to financial inclusion in country.
