Preparations are in the final stages for the Capital Markets High School Quiz Competitions with 20 schools having so far confirmed participation.

Organised and hosted by Business Weekly in partnership with Financial Market Indaba, the competition is an annual recognition event which benchmark institutional achievement and performance in the markets  and exchanges landscape of Zimbabwe’s Financial Sector.

The quiz competition has been approved and endorsed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Old Mutual-the headline sponsor, POSB, Milano Office Chairs, Glass Creators, Tika Shoes, Tigere Property Fund, AFC Holdings, Chicken Inn and C-Trade are amongst the sponsors of the 2023 edition.

High Schools Quiz competition offers a unique and exciting way to motivate, inspire, encourage and reward Secondary and High School scholars in their quest for knowledge and provide them with the opportunity to celebrate their achievement as part of a high profile, national competition.

The Quiz fosters a generation that is conscious of the importance of savings, financial literacy and capital markets.

Participating in this year’s edition, in Pool A are Errymaple International School, Bernard Mizeki High, Zengeza 1 High, Kriste Mambo High, Oriel Girls High School.

Pool B consists of St Johns Emerald Hill High, Msengezi High School, Cheunje High School, Dominican Convent High School and Marist Nyanga High School.

Harare High School, Jameson High School, Midlands Christian College, Falcon College and Marymount Mission High School represent pool C in the competition.

The competing schools in pool D are; Irene Christian College, St Alberts High School, Silveira High School, St Dominic’s Chishawasha and Cygnet Private College.

Dominican Convent High School-Bulawayo is defending champion after scoping the tightly contested inaugural 2022 quiz competition prize.

Business Weekly Editor, Herbert Zharare said; “We are looking forward to hosting the High School Capital Markets Quiz at the end of September.  We are very much excited with the overwhelming responses being received from stakeholders including the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the schools and our sponsors.

“The truth is the economic environment is not looking good and nearly everyone is affected in one way or the other. But the responses from all the stakeholders who are yearning to produce financially enlightened students is amazing.

“As such, we shall continue sharpening our systems and improve this platform and ensure it attracts more stakeholders. To our valued supporters, we say the doors for sponsorship are still open, it’s your invaluable support that will assist us help these young minds create new career paths for themselves in the financial field,” said Zharare.

The High School quiz is expected to run from 21 to 29 September at the ZTN Studios Herald House, with the Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN Prime) as a media partner.
