WORLDWIDE air ambulance services, ACE Air and Ambulance has been nominated as a finalist for a prestigious global accolade, The Air Ambulance Company of the Year Award by the International Travel & Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ).

Winners will be announced in Athens, Greece next Tuesday.

The ITIJ awards are the leading accolade for the global travel and health insurance industry, bestowing recognition to companies that surpass service excellence to their customers and clients and drive dynamism in the industry, showcasing distinction and innovation across all sectors that serve world travellers.

In a statement, ACE Air and Ambulance said the high-status award is given to some of the finest companies around the globe.

“We are humbled to be named among the global finalists.

“ACE Air and Ambulance has distinguished itself in its nomination together with internationally acclaimed service providers, AirMed International and Redstar Aviation both domiciled in Europe,” it said.

Stakeholders in the health sector will pay tribute to ACE Air and Ambulance at an occasion to be officiated by Health and Child Care Minister Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga at the Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare today.

The ITIJ Awards are hosted at the conclusion of the annual ITIC Global conference, a celebration of industry and a key platform for the captains of the insurance industry to connect and shape the future together.

ACE Air and Ambulance is strategically positioned in Harare offering unparalleled service excellence, and efficient rapid response services, especially in remote Africa where daylight hours, remote airstrips, and poor medical initial response plague the industry.

ACE Air and Ambulance managing director Herbert Fate was quoted as saying: “Local knowledge and location mean that ACE is able to respond quickly and effectively.

“We have 3 Beechcraft King Air Aircraft and a Bell Long-Ranger Rescue Helicopter.”

The aircrafts are fully equipped and permanently configured as Intensive Care Unit air ambulances.

Fate affirmed that his organisation has stringent quality control and safety management systems governing the operations of its air ambulances, under the regulatory authority of the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe.

“Our aircraft are supplied by our sister company, Halsted’s Aviation Corporation, which has been in operation since 2006, and is based at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport,” he added.

ACE Air and Ambulance offers transportation by ground ambulances, fixed-wing air ambulances, or HEMS (Medical Helicopter Service) to the nearest appropriate medical facility.

Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care is provided by fully trained paramedics/flight nurses or doctors depending on the nature of the emergency.

ACE also offers a 24-hour medical call centre with critical care paramedics, nurses, and doctors. Other services include on-site emergency medical care by fully trained paramedics or doctors and flight nurses and ambulance transport by air or road to the nearest appropriate medical facility. Meanwhile, no prior medical aid authorisation is required.

The company has an extensive fleet of advanced life support road ambulances, with capabilities to transport patients on full life support.

Fate said all of the ground ambulances are installed with state-of-the-art advanced-life-support equipment.

Despite the overwhelming social and economic challenges affecting Zimbabwe, ACE Air and Ambulance has managed to grow in the industry to become a highly trusted and respected international service provider.

ACE Air and Ambulance was founded in 2015, and in its few years, has scaled heights in exponential growth in response to the increased demand for its services.

The company has extended regional reach to Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa.
