The president of the United States Soccer Federation has warned David Beckham to expect a hostile reception when he returns to LA Galaxy.
Sunil Gulati told Bloomberg the 'timeshare' deal that saw him spend five months at AC Milan will have upset some Major League Soccer (MLS) fans. "That is inevitable, but in the end he is a good player and a soccer icon, and I think he'll help his team," he said. "But are there going to be some people that are upset? Sure." The midfielder is due to return to action against the New York Red Bulls on 16 July. The MLS season began in March and Galaxy are currently sixth in the eight-team Western Division. LA Galaxy have seen a drop in attendances since Beckham left for Italy with an average of just over 19,000 fans per home game so far - about 7,000 fewer than last season. The loan agreement that took Beckham to the San Siro was originally planned to last through the US off-season, but an extension to July and £6.8m compensation package was agreed between Galaxy and AC Milan. It is believed that Beckham personally contributed to the payment to ensure his stay in Serie A was extended. The 34-year-old, whose performances at Milan enabled him to win back a place in Fabio Capello's England squad, could exercise an escape clause in November that would free him to move to another club. But bringing the contract he signed in 2007 to an early end would only be possible with the payment of more compensation to LA Galaxy. BBCSport

they were spun a bit more: Peter Bjorn And John, Blk Jks, Regina Spektor, Glasvegas, Mavado, and Sa-Ra Creative Partners are nowhere to be found. The list -- one of oh so many lists -- is also refreshingly interesting in and of itself, a fine example of a publication stepping outside of the hive mentality and coming up with something that feels personal. Even if I don't personally agree with a lot of it.
